My Spirit is TrappedHereAfter activation, Special Summon this card in Defense Position; it is treated as a Effect Monster Card (Zombie-Type/DARK/Level 4/ATK 1800/DEF 500). If this card is destroyed by battle, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the monster that destroyed it. (This card is also still treated as a Trap Card.)
Okay so I am going to tell you about Zoma the Spirit today. This a very interesting card. First it is a trap and second it is also a monster.
To start this card must be set just like any other trap and it is venerable to cards like space typhoon and dark bribe. It is also a continuous so it stays on the field. When it is activated however it gets the characteristics of an effect monster.
And what an effect monster that is. It is dark so it works well in dark decks like Zombie and Blackwing. Being a lv 4 this is perfect tribute fodder for syncros such as Brionic, Dragon of the Ice Barrier and Goyo Guardian. Being a trap another advantage is you can get it on the field and then summon your tuner as it does not count as a summon. While the defense is weak it does not matter as if it is destroyed your opponent takes damage equal to there monsters attack. And you can activate it during the end phase to negate it being summoned it defense mode.
If your opponents field is open this can become a 1800 beatstick or you can suicide it into a bigger monsters if you got enough points and have your opponent take there monsters damage. The only way to prevent this card from activating that effect upon battle destruction would be to destroy it using cards like Dark Ruler Ha Des or Ancient Gear Beast. Even if your opponent plays creature swap or brain control they still take the damage.
Some weaknesses of this card are Jinzo and Royal Decree but those are easily taken care of with cards we will discuss latter.
In this section we are going to see what monsters/synchros can be good combination with this card, and a few tips on how it should work
~Monsters~
Here
Makyura the Destructor
For all those traditional players you can play Zoma right from your hand when this is in grave. This can be very powerful have 2 or more then you can suicide them into your opponents monster and win the game. Here
Uria, Lord of Searing Flames
I know what you thinking how could this be a strategy? Well as Zoma is still treated it fulfills the summoning conditions for him and you still got a fall back plan is something goes wrong.
Here
Lave Golem
This is particular interesting. You can summon Golem to your opponents side of the field and then suicide Zoma into it for 3000 points of damage while you only take 1300!
Here
Mask of Darkness
You can use this card to bring zoma back to your hand and repeat the whole process. Here
A Cat of Ill Omen
You can use this card to search and place it on top of your deck.
Here
Stardust Dragon
I could write a whole article on this card. You know what it does. Stops just about anything.
Here
The Calculator
This card gets a boost from Zoma the Spirit and Metal Reflect Slime. With just 2 on the field its attack is 3000! Making it easy to get an OTK.~Spells~
Here
Necrovalley

3 copies of this is a must have. It insures that Zoma the Spirit will not be destroyed be anything that destroys traps. Plus if your opponent uses heavy storm then you are still safe while they lose theirs. Here
Dark Bribe
Used to negate a spell or trap that would mess up summoning of Zoma the Spirit. Here
Solemn Judgment
Same as Dark Bribe but can negate summon of monster that could harm Zoma the Spirit like Brionic. Here
Divine Wrath
Negates any effect monster that would destroy Zoma the Spirit and can be used to send Makyura the Destructor to grave. Here
Metal Reflect Slime
This card would be very effective in a deck along with Zoma the Spirit as it a trap/monster but it has 3000 defense. Giving you enough time to get Zoma. Here
